A Chara,
I am contacting you in my capacity as Chairman of the Connaught Rangers Association. The Association was founded in 2002 and its’ mission is to document and remember those who served in the Connaught Rangers from 1793 – 1922. Recently a new committee was elected and it is hoped that membership will be increased. I am contacting former members and those who may have an interest to join the Connaught Rangers Association. I enclose an application form. Please return to Membership Secretary, address at bottom of application form. This year we commemorate the centenary of the Connaught Rangers Mutiny in India in the summer of 1920. To mark the centenary there are a number of events planned. The first is the staging of the play No Comet Seen by John Kavanagh (Please see attached poster for details). There is another connection with the Connaught Rangers as most of the cast are serving members of the Defence Forces based in Dún Uí Mhaoilíosa, formally Renmore Barracks, the former Depot of the Connaught Rangers. Please contact 3ringstuam@gmail.com or click on the link below for further information and tickets. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/no-comet-seen-tickets-93471051431?aff=ebdssbeac https://antaibhdhearc.ticketsolve.com/shows/873618353 Please do not contact Renmore Barracks as they are not ticket agents. There is also a lecture on the Connaught Rangers Mutiny 1920 in the Purtill/Camus Suite, Harbour Hotel, Galway at 8pm on 30 April 2020. The talk will be given by Dr. Tony King, Liaison Officer, CRA. Admission is free and all are welcome. I also enclose a newsletter to inform you of current and future plans of the Association. Please feel free to pass on to your members or contacts. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information by e-mail chairman@connaughtrangersassoc.com or visit website www.connaughtrangersassoc.com
Kind regards,
P J Maloney,
Chairman,
Connaught Rangers Association.
